One of our goals at Point of Entry is to redefine traditional development to suit the needs of the land, our communities and future generations.

In reviewing my life path, I realized that I had yet to weave together threads from seemingly disparate parts of my background into a blended holistic career. I had a degree in Conservation of Natural Resources from U.C. Berkeley and a Masters in Architecture from the University of Washington in Seattle. After apprenticeship and licensure, I founded an architecture and construction company in the San Francisco Bay Area. During this period, I also was involved in public school education, helping to start San Francisco’s first public charter high school, Leadership High School. (See Leadershiphigh.org ) What was next?

The goal was to combine the cooperative spirit of education with the process of creating healthy, well‐designed and environmentally conscious buildings. Hence the creation of a sustainable architecture and development company, Point of Entry.

It is imperative that we meet the threat of global warming now. Few people realize that the built environment in the United States accounts for 48% of greenhouse gas emissions. If we collectively take steps to diminish the overall carbon footprint of buildings and reduce our reliance on coal for electrical power, we can drastically reduce the effects of global warming. We have the means to accomplish this by the year 2030. (See Architecture 2030.org)
